Late spring through early fall is ideal — roughly May through October. Exterior paint requires temperatures above 10°C and dry conditions for proper adhesion and curing. We monitor weather closely and schedule jobs accordingly. Spring and fall bookings fill up quickly, so it's worth getting on the schedule early.
A properly prepared and painted exterior should last 8 to 12 years depending on the surface type, paint quality, and exposure to sun and moisture. The prep work — washing, scraping, sanding, and priming — is what determines longevity. Skipping prep is why most exterior paint fails prematurely.
Yes. Vinyl siding can be painted successfully when the right product is used. We use 100% acrylic latex paints formulated for vinyl — they flex with the siding through seasonal temperature changes rather than cracking. Proper cleaning and a light scuff before application ensures strong adhesion. We won't paint vinyl a darker colour than the original, as this can cause the siding to absorb excess heat and warp.
No. Exterior work doesn't require you to be home — we can work with whatever access is needed. We do ask that vehicles be moved from the driveway and that any pets be kept indoors or away from the work area. We'll do a walkthrough with you at the end of the job before we leave.
A TSP solution wash of all surfaces to be painted is included in every exterior project — this is a mandatory prep step, not an add-on. If your home has significant mildew, algae, or years of built-up grime, we may recommend a dedicated power washing service first. We'll assess this during your estimate and let you know what's needed.
