Most homes are built with whatever brick was practical and available at the time. That doesn't mean it suits your taste, your neighbourhood, or what the house has become over the years. Brick staining is a permanent solution — not paint, not a coating that sits on the surface and peels, but a penetrating stain that bonds with the brick itself.

The result is a colour change that looks natural because it is. The texture, the variation, the character of the brick all remain. Only the colour changes — to exactly what you want.

Exterior Brick Staining

Full exterior transformations — front facades, side walls, and rear elevations. We assess your brick's condition, clean and prep the surface, and apply stain evenly across the entire elevation for a consistent, intentional result.

Accent & Feature Walls

Stain a single elevation or accent feature to create contrast or tie the exterior palette together. Works well for homes where the front brick is visible but side or rear elevations are a different material.

Interior Brick

Exposed interior brick — fireplaces, feature walls, basement columns — can be stained to match a renovation's direction without the look of painted brick. We use the right product for interior applications.

New Build Colour Selection

For new builds where the brick has been laid but the colour isn't quite right, staining is a cost-effective way to correct it before the project is complete — or shortly after, before landscaping and finishing work begins.

Free On-Site Estimate

We assess your brick's type, condition, and current colour. Not all brick takes stain the same way — we'll advise on what's achievable, what colours will work, and what the process looks like for your specific home.

Surface Cleaning

Brick must be thoroughly cleaned before staining. Efflorescence, dirt, organic growth, and any previous coatings are removed. We won't stain over a surface that isn't properly prepared — it's the most important step.

Masking & Protection

Windows, doors, trim, soffits, and surrounding surfaces are masked and protected. Brick stain is permanent — overspray is not something we leave to chance.

Test Application

We apply stain to a small, inconspicuous area first and let it cure so you can see exactly what the finished colour will look like on your specific brick before committing to the full application.

Full Application

Stain is applied evenly across the entire surface using spray or brush technique depending on the brick profile and project scope. Multiple coats are applied as needed to achieve full, consistent coverage.

Cure & Walkthrough

Stain is allowed to cure fully before masking is removed. We do a complete walkthrough with you to confirm coverage, consistency, and that the result meets the standard we set at the outset.

Full Exterior Staining

Complete colour transformation for the entire exterior brick surface — front, sides, and rear. The most impactful upgrade a brick home can receive without structural work.

Single Elevation

Front facade or a single elevation stained independently. Works well for homes where only the street-facing brick is visible, or where contrast between elevations is the goal.

Accent & Feature Walls

Selective staining of a feature section — a chimney, a single panel, or a recessed entry. Creates intentional contrast without committing to a full exterior colour change.

Interior Brick Staining

Fireplaces, exposed basement brick, and interior feature walls stained to complement a renovation — without the flat, painted look that closes off the texture of the brick.

New Build Correction

New construction brick that's the wrong colour, or that doesn't match the intended palette. We correct it early — before landscaping and finishing work are in the way.

Mortar Joint Staining

Mortar joints can be stained separately or in coordination with the brick to unify the palette or create contrast. We assess joint condition and recommend the right approach.

What's the difference between brick staining and brick painting? +

Paint sits on top of the brick surface and creates a film. Over time it peels, traps moisture, and can damage the brick beneath. Brick stain penetrates the surface and bonds with the masonry itself — it won't peel, it breathes with the brick, and it looks natural because it works with the texture rather than covering it. We use penetrating stain, not paint.

Is brick staining permanent? +

Yes — that's the most important thing to understand before committing to it. Brick stain cannot be removed once applied. You can stain darker over an existing stain, but you cannot reverse the colour back to original brick. We take a test application seriously for this reason: you should see exactly what the colour looks like on your specific brick before we proceed with the full project.

What colours are available? +

A wide range — from warm whites and creams through greys and charcoals to earth tones and deeper colours. The starting colour of your brick influences what's achievable: you can always go darker, but going significantly lighter requires more product and may not completely mask the original colour in all lighting conditions. We'll advise on what's realistic during your estimate.

How long does brick staining last? +

When applied correctly to properly prepared brick, a professional-grade penetrating stain is essentially permanent — it doesn't fade or peel the way paint does. Exposure to the elements will cause gradual, natural weathering over many years, but this typically looks like the brick aging gracefully rather than the finish failing. Prep quality is the biggest factor in longevity.

How long does the project take? +

Most single-elevation residential projects take 1 to 3 days from start to finish, including surface preparation, masking, test application, full staining, and cure time. Larger projects covering multiple elevations or a full exterior take longer. We'll give you a specific timeline during your estimate based on your home's size and the scope of work.

Can all types of brick be stained? +

Most fired clay and concrete brick can be stained successfully. Glazed or sealed brick, and some engineered stone products, may not accept penetrating stain properly. Brick that has been previously painted requires the paint to be removed before staining is possible — which is a significant additional step. We'll assess your specific brick during the estimate and tell you honestly what's achievable.
